I have made up my mind.
I had moved to Dallas in my late 20's to attend school. I got side tracked things with the school itself got jumbled so I didn't go.
If Critter and I can get rid of this mortgage with the house on Main then I can either stop work or work part-time.
Well, folks I am going back to school the spring semester starts in March and I will finish in 2.5 years and have my license as a Funeral Director.
Critter is so supportive and I think it's the right time.
I love the Nursing Home industry and have done it a majority of my adult life but, I need a change of occupation. The government reimbursement to nursing homes get worse every year and pretty soon no one will be able to get assistance to pay the bill or will have the resources to pay out of pocket.
The government is leaving the elderly out ,believe me.
Now, if ya wanna have 10 kids and get public aide- Your set. (My opinion and do send me hate mail)
Congratulations on the career change. I read in the news awhile back that this is one of the recession-proof jobs.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I've thought about going back to school myself, but am too chicken. Keep us posted on your progress. You're inspirational!
ReplyDeleteThanks Yall!
ReplyDeleteThe profession is something I have always wanted to do but as an adult it's hard to find time to attend.
Come on March!
Anyone wanna buy a house :-))))))
I knew from your musical taste that you weren't a gal to just sit back and not try new things. Good for you and I think it's a great idea. I once dated a mortician, FYI! He was always smiling and laughing. Said he got tired of being somber during the day, so he made up for it when he wasn't working.

I am proud of you for deciding on something you want to do and going ahead with your goal.
ReplyDeleteI worked in the HealthCare industry for years, including being the Administrator for an Assisted Living Facility. You are right about budget woes and burnout in those professions. I wouldn't recommend to any young person to go into nursing anymore, and that is sad.
we were avid fans of "Six Feet Under" on HBO, I always wondered if I'd be able to do that type of work--congrats to you and I wish you well :)
ReplyDeleteYay for you! I totally support your decision. =)
