Her husband gently woke her with a kiss. He let her know it was time to rise with the morning sun.
He went to work telling her to have a good day, to be careful and not to be late for work as he exited the house at 6am.
She had a few minutes to soak it all in while still tucked in her cozy cocoon of covers.
Then her encrusted eyes opened, she saw the sun was up. The time on the clock as she focused the one good eye said 7:04.
She has to be at work at 8am and has a 20 min commute and it usually takes her an hour to get ready.
She flung herself out of bed, draws drooping, one sock hanging on for dear life and with hair stuck to her face she did what could best be described as a falling run to the bathroom.
She was at the entry to the powder room when it happened.
She stepped in fresh cat crap with her one barefoot and between the toes it went.
She was then fully awake and using words that were very descriptive.
She loving looked at her handicapped kitty with the gender crisis and whispered "Thank you, Bitty Kitty for starting my Mon. off on the right foot"
Yes, she made it to work on time!

Two adults from the city into the country. Living in a barn that Critter built all by himself! and my ramblings :-)

JEEZZZZZZZ
Just what the deuce was up with my week?
Tues . I had to go tho a conference. It was one of those mind numbing ones where you listen to a speaker talk about all the fabulous regulations the state and government have come up with the new improved versions of making my life a living hell.
My best friends Dad died. My heart breaks for her because at 40 she has lost both her parents within 3 years.
My boss is not doing well. He is so frail now. The cancer is defeating him.
Thurs. My friend had a heart attack and he is having complications.
Fri. the computer at work went down.
I'm in the house cleaning today it is freezin outside.
well have a good one

HMMM??
The local news reported a story of the sad situation of two people killed in a home invasion.
The anchor woman said this morning "The police are investigating to see if a crime occurred"
Stupid woman!!
I read a headline on MSN today that said " Fate of bat looks grim"
Apparently, a bat had attached itself to the external fuel tank of the space shuttle and NASA could see the bat still attached to the tank when the rocket was ignited.
Fate of bat= the suckers dead and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out!
Barn News:
Roof panels are going on. The weather has been great so we aren't getting home until late.I love this time of year. All the horses have a good bath in their future.

Cooking 101
First find yourself a Man, woman, friend, cellmate, whatever to spend your life with and make sure they know how to cook.
That is the secret people. You don't need to take classes or spend hours over a hot stove just marry well!
There are people in this world who love to do this chore. I say "Good for them"
I tried to cook a couple of times.
No one ever told me to take the ring off the bologna slice. (First Husband almost choked to death)
Spaghetti, I hear is not supposed to be crunchy (Mine made the dog upchuck)
The Thanksgiving meal will be on the raw side if you don't turn the oven on(I wondered why I wasn't smelling the Ham aroma an hour after I put it in the oven)
1 cup of salt is very different from 1 teaspoon ( People politely smiled and put their napkins to their mouth at the company potluck when they ate my cake)
If you don't cook make sure you are always designated as the "Chip or Soda person for the company potlucks.
Always know where your nearest Olive Garden is just in case you and your loved one have a argument and you have to cook for yourself.
That concludes today's lesson.

The W in WJ

This is my brand. Yes, my design. The farm is named after two of the greatest people I know, ever knew and am blessed to be their child.
W=Wanda a.k.a Pickles and J=Joe a.k.a Dad.
I love to slap my brand on anything. Tee-shirts, knives, coasters,my barn barrels anything really I just love it ! Now, this brings me to the subject of my next blog.
May I introduce- Mom
She is my rock. she is the maker of the best oatmeal and swiss cheese sandwich. Mom is a total hoot to travel with by car. Mom loves to read each and every billboard she sees ,no matter how far the destination. She told me the other day on the phone that she couldn't hear me and she really needed to get her eyes checked to find out what the problem is. HMMM?? She is a total hoot I am telling ya :-}
Mom raised five kids and I am the baby and she always says if I were the first I would have been her only child.
I was a really good kid until Jr. High and then you know the story about the kid getting in with the wrong crowd. That was me. I straightened out after high school and I realized that my parents were right about mostly everything and I learned to treasure my parents.

Weapons of Choice RERUN

Some truth telling today. I am over 40 and I think I am on an getting older kick because I just recently joined the official over 40 club and have now started paying attention to all the lies and hype the cosmetic companies put out that they can make me look 20 again without the use of a scalpel. Grasping at straws? I will let you know in 12 more days because I "should notice dramatically smoother and more well defined skin in 14 days" Yes, I will be safely locked behind the powder room door so no one will be a witness to my desperation.
I had considered a gym again. but quickly dismissed that idea because I shall live the downhill slide ride of my life slightly at more weight than suggested and eat cheesecake with my arm flab proudly waving high in the air but I really don't want to look like a Sharpei dog while taking this ride. Don't ask me to explain my logic on wrinkles versus flab.
I have considered the milestones in my life a little different than others. I remember the day I knew I was truly an adult. It was in the summer of my 25th year when I purchased a mower. Not when I signed on for a mortgage that same year or when I joined the Army . I knew my carefree days were over when after I purchased this mower proudly brought it home and called my mother telling her I was officially an adult.
The middle age milestone came with this miracle cream. It was not the day I signed another mortgage or talked with the Critter about which would be the most energy efficient water heater or my life insurance or my pre-need burial plan but, It is standing in Target aka "Mecca" comparing which cream will do the best at erasing my wrinkles the fastest.
I can't be the only person who ever stood in the bathroom mirror staring at themselves saying aloud. "I am old."
Now before you judge me or think sad old woman. remember! If you are not to this stage you will be. If you are going through the same battle Got any good ideas? and if you have been through this already God Bless You!
Yes, I am a 41 year old that feels mentally I am not a day over 30!

tisket-tasket

Oh Yea!
I didn't win a basket last week and I was all crying and boo-hooing and I was all near suicidal as in, picking out bridges to jump off of- and just really feeling low because, I didn't win the basket over at Kimber P's blog "I Know, Right".
Truth be told I have never won a darn thing in my young life and I was feeling like maybe I had a shot at winning the drawing. Well, as fate usually has it, I didn't win.
As of today my faith has been restored in humanity and I gots me a basket!!!
My big ole' sweetie cousin sent me a Harry and David basket. So run on over to his blog. http://frediemikeal.blogspot.com/ and give him big high five for restoring my faith.
Thank You, Sam you have made my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for me entering anymore giveaways- I think not. I just am not emotionally stable enough to handle that kind of stress. This would also be why I don't buy scratch-offs, lotto or gamble.

Barn is at a standstill
The barn work is going slow the dang wind wont stop blowing long enough for me to open a can of paint.
We put up one roof panel tonight. I told Critter I wasn't thrilled about holding the end of a 25 ft sheet metal roof panel in the wind. I could just see a gust of wind coming, riping the metal out of my grip then shearing my head off in one swoop before it flew off to the next county. Naturally, as all good husbands would say in the possible prospect of the wife's decapitation. "Don't worry! You'll be fine just hold it there till I get up on the ladder" Yes, he is my knight in shining armor.

Man ,now I know it's bad
I know the economy is bad and getting worse but I thought there was a little time before the bottom fell out. Well, it hit me like a ton of bricks today when I noticed that an animated lizard even got laid off. The GEICO lizard is gone and has been replaced by two plastic eyeballs. People we are in the crapper! along with my ever dwindling 401k. We are in big trouble. We will be all headed to California in our cars with our worldly possessions and Grandma hangin out the back. Grandma unfortunately, will only make it to the Nevada border before we have to bury her on the roadside. (Can ya tell, I watched Grapes Of Wrath this weekend?)
Apparently the economy is so bad that the girl in the Boost Mobile ad is so broke she can't afford a razor Yes, that would be waist length underarm hair. What the heck was this ad guy thinkin?

Gift horse in the mouth

What does that ole saying mean?
The other day I was at the farm watering trees and this truck pulls in the drive and a man pops out of his Dodge ( Of, course) and says "Howdy"
I go walkin over to the fence and he says he is just wonderin' just what are we building and I go into the whole spiel about how my hubby had this idea and soon I will be leaving my worldly possessions and a 1900 sq ft house behind to be Country Folk.
The conversation then turns and he asks "Do you want a horse? " Now, this is where I think the phrase about the gift horse comes in.
Me and the hubby go down to his farm about half a mile as the crow flies (Country Folk lingo) The man proceeds to show us a gorgeous bit of horse flesh in the shade of chestnut (a shade of red) well this thing was not broke, never been in a trailer and was in need of a serious pedicure. He was so sweet though. All the sudden I hear the hubby say "Well take him" I about crapped!
So we end up getting this very well bred horse that we don't need and don't have the money or time to put in him so, I call up my horsey buddy and ask her if she wants a horse and of course she says "Yes" that seems to be the standard answer when one is asked about a free horse so anyway, My friend and I and her little sidekick go to the farm the next afternoon the get the wild thing in the trailer for the 40 mile ride to his new home. I will tell ya my part of the job was being no where near him or those hind legs while trying to get him in the trailer. I self appointed me a job of standing there with the cell phone ready to call in the air ambulance when he decides he has other ideas about getting in the box on wheels. long story short.. I know to late...
He found his new home. Horsey friend did not tell her spouse there would be an addition to the ranch and Horsey friend ratted me out and said I gave her the horse and hubby is not happy but I know a very happy horsey mom and sidekick and Hubby is all puff and will fall in love with yet another horse.
As for the Critter he wants a buckskin (tan looking kind of horse) and when we get settled out at the farm and have a few bills less, Critter will have himself a buckskin that he will love even more.

Oh no not that!! Revised**
I work in the medical field. No real medical task in my job description but, I do work in the vicinity of patients.
I have the fabulous and always envied position of billing. Well, after years of this type of cliffhanger danger kind of work, I have decided there are just a few illness that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy (Well, there is one person. She has been a thorn in my side for 7 years now. That is a whole other blog in itself) just for the name itself. I don't even know the full ugly effects of some of these illness. The name is what makes me want to pull a Howard Hughes and walk around with Kleenex boxes on my feet. I often wonder who thought up these names and did he/she have a colleague that agreed with he/she and were they drunk while naming the condition?
Here's my list-
The Gout
Hoof and Mouth disease (I actually know what this one is)
Hammertoe
Goiter (not sure if its a condition or body part just cant stand the word)
Ringworm or Scabies (EEWWW scary bugs and horrible name)
The Gout (yes, I listed twice just really don't want it what ever it is)
Rickets (sounds like a twisted kind of game)****
Scurvy (some kind of filthy dog comes to mind)***
Jock Itch
So what do ya think ,should the list grow? Got any other ones for me?
Hey speaking of freaky medical conditions I just saw on the news Michael Jackson is having a garage sale. That would be really scary to see just what he has to offer up for the Sat. morning bargain hunters.
*** Oh No! garage sale may be on hold MJ has filed a lawsuit against the garage sale organizer. I say we should all road trip up there. The people watching alone would be worth the gas!

Scatter of ramblin
Just want to let ya in on an AH-HA moment.
You know that usual conversation you have with you coworker.
How you wish it was 5:00pm already and it is only 8:45 am.
Then you think you will be the smart one and wish it was Fri. at 5:05pm so it would be the weekend and all your work would be done.
Then the coworker snaps back "I think we are just wishing our lives away"
That has to be one of the most intelligent things I have heard this week.
The wind has be blowing like heck so no painting is getting done. Hopefully tomorrow.
My jenny (A female donkey) that I have had for 5 years is movin to a farm down the road. My jack (A male donkey) has gotten to big and I really don't want her to bred so she is gonna live down the road. Man, I am gonna miss her.
I am kinda depressed out trivial stuff and not really in a chipper mood.
I am however grateful for many things everyday.
Hopefully, I will snap back real quick and be witty again.
Come on Spring

Shopping Scrappy style
I know, I don't have to tell you about Wally-hell but, I need to tell ya Critter has successfully wormed out of grocery shopping for the last two years. He says things like "I have to work on the barn, I have to go to work, I am just not gonna do it, you go out amongst the missing links of society".
I had avoided this chore for 35 years and I marry him and now look at me. When I was single I know there was never any kind of food in the house because that is why God blessed us with restaurants. I don't cook, I don't know what to buy to go with whatever for dinner. I am not the person for this job!
My days of grocery shopping solo are numbered. It is about time Critter suffer right along with me.
Today at the Wally the usual Freaks of nature, rude as all get out, I am gonna ram my buggy into the back of your heel then look at you like you are the one in the way- kind of folks were all just waiting for me.
Then something so out of the ordinary happened a conversation on the air freshener aisle.
A cross-eyed man. walked in front of me and excused himself! I know, I was in total shock someone with an inkling of manners was there the same time as me.
I politely smiled and the here came the conversation. He pulled from his pocket a million box lids and labels playing some kind of match game. He explained to me that is how his wife sends him to the store. She is betting he can't go wrong all he has to do is match the label. Well, he was trying to match up air freshener. He had no luck. The sheer terror in his voice as he tried to tell me she ain't gonna be happy when he unloads the bags and he got the wrong one.
The one and only conversation and it was a heart breaker. You know, she will remind him for a week that she just gave him one little task and couldn't get it right!
Poor guy.

Me so tired
Well ,it has been a wonderful weekend revolving around hay. We bought hay, we hauled hay, we bailed hay, I have hay in my bra. It was so windy.
I am beat.
Critter has decided he is fan of Curling. This has got to be the MOST boring sport I have ever seen.
Have you ever been to tired to blog? Apparently, I am to tired to sit my butt on the couch and type words of wisdom, humor and tragic stories. Man, that is tired!
So,Monday is creeping ever so closer and it will be a week that promises piles of work on my desk, deadlines, time frames and more piles of work on my desk. Man I just can't wait.
Sunday starts daylight savings time and that means time to work at the farm after work.
Hey bonus! My favorite show starts this week. Top Model! Oh yea, me and the Critter are addicted and come Wed my happy butt will be planted in front of the T.V.
Now that is what I call ramblin.
