Today Meip Gies died at the age of 100.
I can't say honestly that I know much about her other than what most of us know or read about in high school. I do pray that God welcomed her home in his loving arms today.
I am going to be honest here. I wonder if I could have done what she did and risked her and the lives of her family for friends and strangers.
I want to say Yes, but would I have ??
I don't know. I think it's sad that in my heart of hearts I have my doubts.
She had no doubts.
Meip did the right thing with no question or second thought she just "DID"
I am of Polish decent and growing up and reading the history I wondered how some one could have so much hate for a person for their beliefs or their nationality that they would order the deaths of an entire race
If you think about it the Nazi regime was is not that long ago.
I have so many thoughts going through my mind and way to many to blog about but I wanted to share with you the sad news of the passing of an amazing woman who I have never met but makes me want to be as giving and loving as herself.
I had no idea. I don't watch TV or read the news really, so I had no idea this happened.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe that, slowly, we're losing all concrete connections with this. It's almost foreign to kids today anyway and, in a decade more, it'll be like it happened on another planet to them.
She is one of the last of a few wonderful people that risked everything for others. I'm sure she is going to her well deserved reward.
ReplyDeleteStillie- It's so sad that the kids these days almost seem not to even care
ReplyDeleteMatt- I so agree with you
I posted this on my facebook and was suprised how many people had no clue who she or the Franks were.
