Bye, Bye staycation :-(

Well vacation has come to an end. Back to work in the morning. I did get some things done and I did get to catch up on my sleep.
The weather here today was wonderful, you couldn't have asked for a better day. It rained all day yesterday and the grass this year is looking wonderful.

Sad news today. The midnight raiders came back Fri. night.They killed 7 kittens and a pregnant Mom cat. The Momma cat was a great barn cat. I am gonna miss her.
I talked to the owner of the raiders and let him know that if they come back they wont be alive for long if we catch em. It was a friendly conversation and he understands but like he said the are just dogs the people dump in his yard.
He has all these dogs because people like to dump their unwanted animals out in the country. I don't understand that at all. There are shelters and free ads.
I just can't see how one can just dump their once loved animal out to fend for themselves.

  1. Stopped by your blog this evening for the first time and I want to be a stalker too!

    I am having a problem getting that gadget to work, but I'll keep trying.

  2. So sorry to hear about the cats.

    Is there a local animal rescue operation that you can contact so that you can get advice on how to deal with the "Midnight Raiders"? If you don't know of the nearest one, I'll find one for you, let me know.

    I know the problem all too well, it happens at my father-in-law's place too often. Your neighbor is also part of the problem: he/she should contact the local rescue place to come and get the animals. He can make a dontation to the shelter to feed the animals until they are adopted... a better solution than letting his strays attack the neighbors.

    I know you have a kind heart and don't want to kill the "Midnight Raiders" since they think it is what they are supposed to do. It is the humans that are the problem: the humans who dumped their pet and your neighbor who facilitates this raiding.

  3. Welcome to the ranch Laura :-}

    You are very right I don't want to kill the dogs! They come on our property and raid our barn where are cats STAY. This the the 2nd time with them. Last time they pulled the heads off of 9 of our cats. We have 6 left now.

  4. I am sure you are ready to get back to work to "rest" from your staycation!
    I hate to read that about your cats. I would agree and say contact your animal control first to see what can be done. These animals are obviously out of control and are a viscious pack. That is just scary!
