A new herd here at WJ Farms

Seems we have a new herd here at the farm and Critter taught me what tack I needed and we set out to round em up

The area of the pasture where we have seen them feeding was not far from the barn

He showed how to use my highly complicated gear (piece of string approx. 24 inches long, piece of bacon approx. 1 inch long still frozen)

He showed me how to carefully place the string where the herd had been last seen

It was not to long after showing me the ropes we started corraling them up!

On my own the next day and caught one using my new found skill! I am abosolutley terrified to touch em but I can catch and fling em across the pasture while the sucker is still holding on to the sting like a pro!

Lets walk around the farm

Welcome

Come have a seat on the porch with me and we can watch the awesome sunrises like I do most mornings these days.

Two new additions here on the farm. The pool was a must in the Texas heat and Critter also put in a storm shelter. Last year was a heck of a yr for storms and Critter's job was hit by a tornado while he was at work in March (Thank God he was not hurt)so after that experience it didn't take him long to finish it.

My Dynamite Myrtle that my mare chewed to a nub is finally getting it together

Myrtles are bloomin

The pond is full :-) Hopefully we can make it all summer without going dry

Crawfish holes so big I could loose my dog in ! Drives me nuts how they take all my water from my trees and they tear up the pasture

Hello :-)

Hello all! Yes, it has been awahile. Shall we play catch up?
We finally sold our house on Main!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can you believe it? I was in shock. The buyer was normal and it was not like any of the other offers we had in the past. Profit was zero really but to sell a house in the times and in a small town that is fast becoming run down we were lucky and blessed !!! so we are now working on the the farm and catching up up on projects around here. so enough for now and I will catch ya up more with pics a bit later Have a great day!

Current Events

Our 10 year annv. is coming up and Critter shocked me last night with this ring.

Critter and I wish you all a Merry Christmas!

The birthday is fast approaching :-( I am gonna be 43,44,or 45 I have lost track but I am sure I want to be in my thirties and don't want to get old.

Dear Herman Cain,
See ya! if you did nothing wrong why did you not tell your wife about all the money you gave another woman if it was so above board ?? I never have trusted you!
Why do you always refer to yourself in third person? Is it to remove yourself from the real truth?

Have a good night yall have a good night

I asked - I got :-)

Cornice Boards that was my idea. Critter said "what are they?" that was Friday afternoon. Friday night we are hanging out at the fabric store (yes, we are a hip couple!) Saturday, I had cornice boards that are covered in burlap and leather. I love em :-)

Welcoming in the holidays here at WJ Farms

Saddles and Wrenches

Saddles are best on the floor and on top of the fridge :-)

This is the harness we scored for 19 bucks! The big ole wrench I found last year by the round pen. Our earth here at WJ gives up the coolest things from the past. I would love to know how old it is and how long did the farmer look for it before he finally gave up.

Here is where Scrappy has been

Just in case you might have been wonderin.
Well I have been soul searchin, wondering, lost in fog, blazin new trails and........

The above all is true but to narrow it down heres a story.
My former boss and friend that I have blogged about before lost his battle with cancer and I didn't realize just how much of a friend I considered him and I think I saw him as a father figure. I lost my Dad in 04 and Dad and my friend Jerry Turner had alot of views in common and I did not realize just how much he impacted my life and it was kinda like losing a parent again. I feel like I abandoned him when I left the job but, as him and I talked, he told me he understood my reasons and held no ill will.

I did contiue to see and talk to him so I had to sort all those feelings out-

My relationship with Pickles and the rest of the family has changed. I still talk and see her and love her and my family dearly but we have different views in things now and my inability to be anything other than a "black and white thinker" has changed our relationship. I had to sort all those feelings out-

I took a break from working for a few months and then got another job that was brief and O so wrong for me thennother job that was good and I was not looking for another one when a old friend called and offered me a job in Sept and I am at least on the work front back on track. and I was feelin like I was letting Critter down by changing jobs so much and I had to sort all those feelings out-

My bay mare Pic founderd in the spring so bad I thought we might have to put her down but, she has turned out to be a fighter :-) She has been penned in a small area for all of the summer and she has just recently been able to get out for short times and that has been a blessing. I felt so bad. My ignorence in not knowing all the signs and feeling responsible for letting her get bad due to my lack of knowledge as an owner. These animals are as you know just like human kids to me.
Not to mention with the drought here in Texas We are in search of Hay and the prices are unreal and my message to all the price gougers. Karma, people KARMA just know you are causing horses to be abandonded or killed just because you are so greedy! there is nothing wrong with a profit but what some of yall are doing is a shame!!! Not profit but greed!!!
I had to sort all those feelings out-

Then we moved to the farm full time and rented our house out and we were starting to "see the light " money wise then the renter bailed and we moved another one in and ended up throwing that one out! We have had at least 10 contacts/signed offerers on but believe it or not all have been bat@#^$ crazy folk!!
I have had to sort those feelings out-

So, here we are. I am doing ok and Critter and I are doing good and I am learning how to deal with life and back to bloggin :-)

Next post will be about me putting a saddle on the wall. :-) See ya soon :-)

Hello Stranger

Good Evening,
Summers gone. Fall is here and the windows are open in the barn and we are coming off another great weekend.
Critter and I made it to the Texas Country Reporter Festival and SCORED! The two rabbit paintings were our first find and I just fell in love with them. Next we found the double yoke and then the single harness in great shape for $19.00 bucks. We had such a great day!!
The double yoke to me represents my commitment to Critter and our marriage. So, naturally I wanted two becuase I am truely devoted to my Critter :-)

I was telling Critter people may think of my decor as odd. I have bears, bunnies, horses, cows and farn implements in our bedroom. I just buy what I like and hopefully he likes also and try to put it together in a non offensive way.
I told him that a dream of mine would be to have Debb, from Trash Talk come put it together for me. I want to do something with my windows but I am clueless anyone got any ideas?

The last score was 150 pounds of rye seed for less than $80.00. If you are looking for Critter this week he will be plowing and seeding after work this week. :-)

Wishing you a happy fall season from the front porch of WJ Farms.

Goodbye summer plants. Thank you for all your pretty blooms.

Hope you have a great week!

A Pickle Story

Pickles a.k.a Mom was in the line at the drug counter to fill her prescriptions for whatever it is that a keeps a 75 year old mom in the "hottie" category. There is a man of similar age behind Pickles, He taps he on the shoulder and says "You know what I would love? My coffee in your cup in the morning"

TRUE STORY!
